Njal

Njal is the wisest of the gods. He is revered for his good counsel, which is given to his worshippers and those who earn his blessings. He appears as a kindly elderly man in gray, soot stained robes. During the war between the gods and devils, Njal was burned in his home by the fire devil Surt. The flames infused his body, allowing him to usurp the power of fire and allowing his semi mortal son Gunnar to destroy Surt.

Hralf Kraki

Hralf Kraki was a legendary king renowned for his cunning. In life, he surrounded himself with many famous warriors, all of whom went on to legendary feats in battle. His most famous feat was causing the minions of the god Seth to abandon their attacks on his kingdom. He did this by sneaking into Seth’s great temple and stealing the treasure that was contained within. While he fled, he tossed the treasures behind him, and the greedy minions of Seth stopped to fight over the spoils. After his death, he was sponsored for admission into the ranks of the divine by Njal.

Jack in the Green

Jack in the Green is lord of forests and growing things. Alongside his wife Rigveda, he shepherds the natural world. He is the god who is most likely to appear to his followers.
Jack is the father of the twins Lugh and Gizur. He is a good natured and irrepressible sort, though he is fierce and deadly when threatened. Jack is the creator of all plants and animals.

Hrut
Symbol: upraised and mailed right fist

Portfolio: Judges, Paladins, Executioners, Winter
Domains: War, Strength, Law, Protection, Destruction
Hrut is a cold and implacable god, stern and upright. He is the lord of justice and the creator of courts. He judges the souls of the dead before sending them to Macaria for their final fate.
He is also the god of retribution. The just vengeance of the paladin and the swift axe of the executioner heed his will, as does the cold hand of winter.

Rigveda

Danu is the mother of agriculture and the ruler of the sky. Ravens are her chosen messengers, and the great eagles are her warriors. She is the wife of Jack in the Green and the mother of Lugh and Gizur. She is the goddess invoked to bless marriage, homes, and children. She is the patron goddess of both humans and elves.

Arawn

Arawn is the lord of disease and decay. He is also the lord of the undead. He is a plotter and usurper, and many cruel nobles and tyrant kings secretly pay homage to him.
Arawn’s high priest resides in the grand temple on the island of Anwin. He is charged with unleashing plagues and bringing the mortal world under Arawn’s rule.

Hestia

Favored Weapon: Trident
Hestia is the goddess of love and the sea. She is a jealous and tempestuous goddess, though her rages are easily cooled and her favor regained through proper sacrifices. Hestia has bewitched most of the other gods and goddesses at one time or another, with the exception of Hralf Kraki, who has always gotten the best of her in all of their dealings, though the two remain cordial. Her preferred sacrifice is minted coins, in an effort to tweak Hralf Kraki’s beard.

Gizur

Gizur represents the destructive power of nature. He is the god of twilight and shadow and the twin brother of Lugh. His followers form shadowy cults that focus on the destruction of cities and the aggressive reclamation of the land.

Bergthora
Symbol: Caduceus
Alignment: Lawful Good
Portfolio: Paladins, Family, Medicine
Domains: Healing, Good, Law, Protection
Favored Weapon: Quarterstaff
Bergthora is the wife of Njal, the mother of Sivard, and the patron of healers. She offers wise council healing to all beings regardless of any other considerations. She demonstrates mercy and compassion to all of her enemies, including her sworn foe Arawn.

Sivard
Symbol: Sword over a golden disk
Alignment: Lawful Good
Portfolio: The sun, paladins, nobles, soldiers

Favored Weapon: Longsword
Sivard is the chief of the gods and the son of Njal and Bergthora. He ended the war with the devils along with his half-brother Gunnar by slaying Surt and chaining Asmodeus, though his mother stayed his hand before he could slay Seth for his betrayal of the other gods and the death of Gunnar. After the war he assumed the mantle of the now deceased sun god Coren.

Budli
Symbol: Crossed swords before a full moon
Alignment: Lawful Evil
Portfolio: The moon, prophecy, dark magic

Favored Weapon: Bastard Sword
Budli is the erstwhile wife of Sivard and the goddess of the moon. She is the matron of the drow, though they have strayed far from her original teachings.
Until the last millennium, she stood beside her husband until a plot by Arawn drove a wedge between the two of them. Her pride caused her to split with her husband, though it also prevented her from joining forces with the Lord of Decay. To this day her cults battle his whenever they meet.

Seth
Symbol: Cobra head with fangs extended
Alignment: Chaotic Evil
Portfolio: Murder, reptiles, doomsday cults
Domains: Evil, Chaos, Destruction, Trickery, Death
Favored Weapon: Javelin
Seth is the primordial serpent of chaos. He created the giants and dragons, though the latter quickly broke free of his grasp. He imbued several of the giant kings with the power siphoned from the original sun god and moon goddess, thus creating the race of devils. His plot to overthrow the divine order was foiled by Sivard and his half-brother Gunnar. Gunnar was slain by Seth in retribution. Now Seth has birthed the monstrous race of yuan-ti to advance his agenda of chaos and death.

Lazot
Symbol: Blackened feminine lips, smiling cruelly
Alignment: Neutral Evil
Portfolio: Vice, theft, torture, lust

Favored Weapon: Kukri
Lazot is the only evil deity openly worshipped in many cities. She is the occasional consort of Arawn, Seth, and rarely of Sivard. She was the mother of the hero Siegfried by Sivard, though the latter would never acknowledge his divinity. She rules the gambling dens, and her temples house both divine prostitutes and inhuman torture chambers.

Kahedin
Symbol: Axe on a red field
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Favored Weapon; Greataxe
Kahedin and his wife Brangaine are war gods. He is also a lord of storms, though he tends to much less destructive than Hestia. He is a strong, powerful god and he loves nothing more than to wade into battle and lay waste with his huge axe. In the youth of the world he once drank an entire sea to quench his divine thirst. The wandering barbarian tribes of the north pay homage to him over all other gods.

Brangaine
Symbol: Crow perched atop a spear
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Portfolio: Female warriors, soldiers, generals, battlefield medics

Favored Weapon: Longspear
Brangaine is the wife of Kahedin and rival of Hestia. She is the goddess of clever tactics and battlefield healers. She appears in gleaming white armor with shimmering golden hair. She is held sacred by a hidden tribe of women warriors. She enjoys flirting and teasing her husband, loyal despite his occasional infidelities she remains loyal to him.

Macaria
Symbol: Hammer emblazoned with a skull
Alignment: Neutral
Portfolio: Death, craftsmen, dwarves
Domains: Death, Protection, Destruction, Strength
Favored Weapon: Warhammer
The god of death and the forger of souls, Macaria is the creator of the dwarves and the master of all crafts. After Hrut’s judgments, Macaria sends the souls of the dead to their rewards or punishments. Macaria’s clerics preside over births and funerals, and all are required to master a craft. They despise Arawn, rightfully seeing him as impinging on their lord’s domain.

Lugh
Symbol: A golden horse
Alignment: Neutral Good

Favored Weapon: Shortspear
Lugh is the son of Jack in the Green and Rigveda. He is the twin brother of Gizur, the lord of the dawn, and the master of horses. He is the sworn enemy of Arawn and his undead, and his devotion to pure goodness attracts many paladins to the ranks of his followers. He is known as the Laughing God and the Lord of Hope.

Glareng
Symbol: Dragon’s head breathing flames
Alignment: Neutral Evil

Glareng is the lord of secrets and hidden knowledge. He is the lord of dark magic and ruins, and the first lich. His minions seek to first hide from the world and horde secrets, and then use that power to bring others under their dominion.
